at Alamogordo, New Mexico; continuing through the U.S. clean-up of Nagasaki
/ Hiroshima; during the 235 atmospheric atomic and nuclear weapons tests
in the Pacific and Nevada test sites; until the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty

might wish to help us in our struggle for recognition, and Government

- Canadian Atomic Veterans Association
The Canadian Atomic Veterans Association came into being because of
a conference held in Lethbridge Alberta, dubbed the "First International
Nuclear Test Veterans and Atomic Bomb Survivors Conference." This
conference was held from June 25 to June 30th in 1996 and was organized
by the Reverend Laurence Deverall. Laurence was a member of the British
Armed Forces and took part in the British Tests at Maralinga Australia,
he later contracted cancer in the leg and had to have one leg amputated.
After a long struggle with the British Government, he was successful
in obtaining a disability pension because of his exposure to radiation
during these tests.

Project has now collected about 500 personal narratives of these awesome
events as witnessed by those who were there. Many veterans have sent
photos, certificates and newspaper articles which we have added. We
also have posted nearly 500 photos taken from the recently declassified

Recollections & Personal Sites
- Christmas Island.Org
One Sunday afternoon about 3 months ago I was on "Google"
and typed in "Christmas Island". I couldn’t believe
the result. 1,010,000 hits in one attempt. After endless hours of Indian
Ocean, Kiribati, Kiritimati, and other completely alien names I discovered
that there was no mention of HM Forces involvement. It was as though
the pages 1956-1964 had been torn from the history books as far as “The
Grapples” were concerned. It was then that I decided to try and
compile a small web site to cover those years.

take you to the test pages on her very large website. The rest of the
site gives a great insight into the workings and history of this beautiful
part of the world.
